So………a song bird? I don’t paint too many. I remember my first song bird painting. Cardinals. Late 1980’s. I was painting a lot of birds of prey at the time. So I get commissioned to do a Christmas card for a not to be named card company. Back in those days they paid up front. Well, I painted the most beautiful scene of a cardinal in the snow. The only problem was the cardinal had such a predatory look about him that “no one” was going to purchase that card. Needless to say they never used the image. For years I avoided painting song birds. We laughed about it then and still do…..
